Where & How We Serve

Where

We currently serve a large orphanage located about 2 hours outside of Hyderabad, one of the largest and growing cities in India.

India statistics:

   • Over 1 billion people
   • 400 million children (more than entire US population)
   • 9% are orphans = 35 million orphans

All of these children are brought to the orphanages with their own story of neglect, abuse, abandonment, economic hardship within their family, or death of loved ones. The extreme poverty in this country makes it difficult for many families to care for their children. The caste system and multiple religions are additional challenges for these outcast children. Our desire is to love these children as Christ has called us to and to give them hope for their future. When you come to visit India you will get to see firsthand how these children are taken care of and the battles they face daily.

How

We work with the directors and staff at the orphanages to ensure that the children receive safe and reliable food, clothing and shelter. Areas of need include appropriate nutrition and on-going healthcare. Education is an important means to forever breaking the cycle of poverty. Back2Back India strives to provide high school and college education for teens living in the hostels. The teens also need vocational and professional job skills training for social and vocational success. We strive to gain the trust and confidence of the local staff and community for service with them to provide for the children’s needs.

Given the overwhelming needs in India, we need your help. Together with the Back2Back US staff, the staff in India facilitates short term mission trips to assist with the emotional and educational growth of the orphans through personal interactions and participating in work projects to improve living conditions for them. These trips by churches, businesses, families, civic groups, schools and universities create a bridge between people in need and people with resources.
